Cunningham Christmas Parade is Dec. 13

The annual Cunningham Santa Claus Day is Saturday, December 13, when Santa arrives for his annual appearance in downtown Cunningham.

Arts & Crafts & Photos with Santa

Arts & Crafts booths will be set up in the Sacred Heart Hall on the city’s east side. The booths will open at 9:00 a.m. and close at 1:00 p.m. with a variety of homemade goodies and items. Contact Tamie Renner or Roberta Kobbe for more information or to reserve a space.

Booths for raffles and drawings will also be located in the Sacred Heart school building this year.

Santa will be at the Sacred Heart school building for visits and photos from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Dave Larson will be the photographer with Jeanette Kerschen being the person to contact with questions.

Soup, Chili, & Pie

The Community Soup & Chili lunch begins at 11:00 a.m. in the Community Center. PRIDE, the Lions Club, the Cunningham Women’s Club, and 4-H Club all have a hand in making this event a success year after year. Serving will continue until 1:00 p.m. as long as the soup and chili last.

Line up... it’s a parade

Register parade entries at the Community Center from 11:30 until 12:30 or from 12:45 to 1:00 at the Methodist Church. Line-up begins at 1:00. Entries include tricycles, bicycles, wagons, pets, costumes, tractors, cars, horses, floats, and more. Remember, no three-wheelers or four-wheelers are allowed in the parade unless they are used to pull a float and are driven by an adult. Contact Scott and Judy DeWeese or Bart and Ingrid Ricke for more information on the parade.

Veterans Honored

Veterans from this area that want to take part in the Christmas Parade will have chairs waiting for them in front of the announcer’s stand.

Check those sacks...

At the end of the parade, Santa will arrive. Treat sacks will be given to children of all ages from Santa or at the fire department building. In some of the sacks will be a slip of paper entitling the bearer to a prize donated by an area merchant or other community supporter. Bibles will be included among the prizes.

Some of Santa’s Helpers

To donate a prize for the treat sacks, or to help with the cost of candy, stop by the First National Bank in Cunningham. Contact Kathy Griffis to donate a prize. Helen Long will collect donations for the Bibles this year.

Treat sacks will be delivered to Cunningham’s citizens unable to come to the parade. Contact Linda Kerschen or Liz Miller to add your name or that of a neighbor to their list.

Many volunteers work to make this event successful. Plan your parade entry and mark Dec. 13 on the calendar for Santa’s visit to Cunningham.
